Why I Built REMarketPulse

I got tired of pulling data from 5 different sources just to understand what's happening in real estate markets. Here's why I built something better.

2 min read

I've been spending way too much time trying to figure out what's actually happening in real estate markets.

Zillow and Redfin are fine if you're buying a house to live in, but they're not built for investors. BiggerPockets is great for community, but it's not really data-driven.

So, like a lot of you, I ended up pulling numbers from FRED, Census, Zillow, Realtor.com… dumping it all into spreadsheets, and trying to make sense of it. Honestly, it was a mess.

At some point I thought: there has to be a better way.

The Backstory

I started building REMarketPulse mostly for myself. I wanted one place to track housing cycles, compare metros side by side, and actually see if a market was getting overheated or undervalued.

That project kind of snowballed, and now I've decided to make it free and open it up.

What It Does Right Now

This is still early, but here's what you can do already:

  • 📊 Check national housing trends in one view.
  • 🌆 Compare metros on things like price-to-rent, population growth, and job growth.
  • 🔍 Spot markets that look cheap (or not) without juggling a dozen spreadsheets.

Why Free?

This started as my own tool, not a business plan. But I figure if it helps me, it'll help other investors too.

So for now it's 100% free. Down the line, I may add paid features like:

  • More granular local data (counties, neighborhoods).
  • Cash flow calculators / deal analysis tools.
  • Alerts and dashboards for people who want more automation.

What's Next

This is a work in progress, and I'd love feedback.

👉 Join the subreddit: r/REMarketPulse

👉 Subscribe for updates: I'll only send big feature drops.

👉 Try it out: View Market Dashboard → to explore live market data across 374+ metro areas.

I built this because I wanted better data to make better investment decisions. Hope it saves you some time too.
